Complete Attic Restoration After Rodent Infestations

Rodent infestations can turn an attic into a significant health hazard long before visible damage becomes apparent. Rats, mice, squirrels, raccoons, birds, and other animals often leave behind droppings, urine, nesting materials, parasites, and contaminated insulation that may expose occupants to airborne bacteria, viruses, allergens, and unpleasant odors.

911 Hazmat Cleanup provides complete attic restoration services throughout Northern and Central California, including attic cleanup from rodents, contaminated insulation removal, attic decontamination, attic insulation replacement, odor remediation, and full attic restoration. Our technicians safely remove contaminated materials while restoring the attic to a clean, healthy condition using OSHA-compliant procedures and EPA-approved disinfectants.

Many attic restoration projects also include sanitizing structural framing, sealing contamination sources, deodorization, and recommendations for exclusion repairs to help reduce the likelihood of future infestations.

Why Rodent Contamination Should Never Be Ignored

Contaminated attic insulation does far more than reduce energy efficiency. Rodent urine and droppings can become airborne as insulation ages or is disturbed, allowing contaminated dust particles to circulate through HVAC systems and living spaces.

Depending on the infestation, contamination may involve:

  • Rodent droppings and urine
  • Mouse feces removal
  • Animal droppings cleanup
  • Nesting materials
  • Parasites and insects
  • Damaged insulation
  • Contaminated wood framing
  • Strong persistent odors

In severe cases, contamination may contribute to poor indoor air quality and increase exposure to diseases associated with rodent infestations, including hantavirus and other biological hazards. Professional removal and decontamination help eliminate these risks while restoring attic performance and improving overall indoor air quality.

Our Attic Restoration Process

Every attic restoration project begins with a comprehensive inspection to evaluate contamination levels, damaged insulation, structural concerns, and biological hazards. Because every property is different, our technicians develop a customized remediation plan based on the extent of contamination.

The restoration process may include removal of contaminated insulation, biohazard cleanup, HEPA vacuuming, structural disinfection, odor treatment, attic decontamination, insulation replacement, and final verification to ensure the attic has been safely restored. Throughout the project, technicians wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow strict containment procedures to prevent cross-contamination within the home.

Our goal is not simply to remove damaged insulation, but to restore the attic to a cleaner, healthier, and more energy-efficient condition.

HEALTH & SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

Rodent-contaminated attics may contain numerous hazards, including:

  • Rodent droppings
  • Mouse feces
  • Animal urine contamination
  • Hantavirus exposure
  • Airborne bacteria and allergens
  • Damaged insulation
  • Odor contamination
  • Parasites and insects
  • Biohazardous waste
  • Compromised indoor air quality

Professional remediation helps reduce exposure risks while safely removing contaminated materials.

When Mold Testing Is Recommended

Professional mold testing may be beneficial in a variety of situations, including:

Following water damage or flooding events

When visible mold growth is present

When musty odors persist without an obvious source

During real estate transactions

Following remediation to verify cleanup effectiveness

When indoor air quality concerns exist

When moisture intrusion has been identified

During tenant, employee, or occupant complaints

Testing provides objective information that can help guide decision-making and determine whether additional investigation or remediation may be necessary.

Our Approach

Our technicians follow a structured remediation process designed specifically for contaminated attics.

After inspecting the attic, we establish containment, remove contaminated insulation and debris, disinfect structural components, perform odor treatment when necessary, and install new insulation if requested. Every project follows OSHA regulations and industry best practices to safely restore the attic while minimizing disruption to the rest of the property.

Yes. Rodent droppings and urine may contain bacteria, viruses, and allergens that can become airborne when disturbed. Professional cleanup helps reduce these health risks.

Yes. We can remove contaminated insulation, decontaminate the attic, and install new insulation as part of a complete attic restoration project.

Most projects can be completed in one to several days depending on the size of the attic, the extent of contamination, and whether insulation replacement is required.

Amazing, quite thorough in their work. We called them to cleanup rodent droppings. Left the garage very clean and prestige. Very professional. They cleaned the inside of all the garage cabinets. Every step was explained and photographed and shared with us. Look no further.

  • Stop your search right here! You do not need to go any further. 911 Hazmat Cleaners will take care of you for a very reasonable price in a very difficult situation. I had an unattended death and level 4 hoarder clean up. I was overwhelmed! 911 Hazmat Cleaners was $7,000 cheaper than the other bids. They were perfect in everyway. You couldn’t believe the before and after photos. And the smell afterwards was amazing! They also bought lunch for my husband and me everyday we were there with them. Just mention to the other companies that you are going to talk to 911 Hazmat and watch their faces fall because they know. We were so happy we tipped the guys a hundred dollars each. You will be happy too if you have to use them!

Everyone with whom I worked with at 911 Hazmat was above expectations in satisfaction for the client, consideration for the neighbors, efficiency in their work, positive and supportive throughout the 18 days to complete the cleanup, trustworthy, and so thoughtful to me while I was grieving for my sister and dealing with a toxic cleanup. The documentation of work they did every day with pictures and amounts of trash dumped was especially helpful since I could not physically be onsite once worked started on the property. They give an estimate and stick with it. This company is the BEST.
